How do you like your Brew?

PLUNGER COFFEE (A.K.A. FRENCH PRESS)

  • Use a coarse grind, with 12 - 15g of coffee powder to 200ml water* (depending on the coffee and your personal preference)
  • Pour your water over the ground coffee, ensuring that all of the coffee is thoroughly wet for an even extraction (you also stir gently at this point)
  • Allow the coffee to rise to the surface "this is called a Bloom" - and allow it to steep for 2 - 3 minutes
  • Gently plunge down to separate the grounds from your freshly brewed coffee

*a normal cup holds  200ml to 250ml of water

FILTER/POUROVER COFFEE

  • Use a medium grind, with 12 – 15g of coffee powder to 200ml of water*
  • Thoroughly wet your filter paper and discard the water. This will remove any taste on the filter paper itself.
  • Pour about half of the water slowly over the ground coffee ensuring that all the coffee is thoroughly wet.
  • Allow the “Bloom” which is the coffee that rises to the top, to settle before pouring of the remaining water slowly over the coffee

*a normal cup holds  200ml to 250ml of water

AEROPRESS

  • Use medium grind, 18g to 20g of coffee powder to 200ml of water*
  • Thoroughly rinse the aeropress and filter paper before brewing and discard the water
  • Pour the water slowly over the ground coffee, ensuring all the coffee is thoroughly wet and allowing it to “bloom”
  • After 45 to 60 seconds, place the aeropress over your cup/mug and slowly press down on the plunger to extract your coffee
